FIVE ARRESTED FOR DRUG CHARGES, WARRANTS

(7/31/2006) NEW HAVEN – Members of the New Haven Police Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit made five arrests this weekend for drug charges and outstanding warrants.

On Friday, 28 July, in the area of 70 Kimberly Avenue, Shavon Mullings, 22, of 50 North Sheffield Street, was arrested on a warrant for criminal attempt to commit assault in the first degree in connection with a shooting that took place earlier this month.

At 48 Daggett Street, Solomon Maye, 27, of Milford, was arrested and charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell and possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized $145, 11 bags of crack and two bags of marijuana. Maye was also served with two outstanding warrants.

On Saturday, 29 July, at Osborn Avenue and Ruby Street, police arrested Korey McRay, 19, of 215 Blake Street, and a 17-year-old juvenile. They were charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school and motor vehicle charges. Police seized 32 bags of crack cocaine, nine bags of powdered cocaine and two “eight balls.” McRay was additionally served with an outstanding warrant.

Joseph Lieto, 54, of 15 Norman Avenue, was arrested in the area of 409 Blatchley Avenue. He was charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, breach of peace and motor vehicle charges. Police seized two bags of crack.
